Do you think the series paints an accurate picture of office behavior? Or has corporate culture been exaggerated for the sake of comedy? A smart, sweet look from inside The Office about how the show spawned enduring friendships and unexpected careers. This audiobook was so much fun! It's clear Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey are amazing friends and it was wonderful to hear how their relationship began, grew, stumbled, and flourished. I loved getting the behind the scenes details and insights into the show and characters. The little cameos from cast members and friends (the song from Creed!) were great and I especially loved the insight about the challenges of being a woman in Hollywood and then as a working mother. The chapter about walking the red carpet for the first time and the helpful tips was one of my favorites and had me laughing so hard. I haven't listened to the Office Ladies podcast, so the majority of the information shared was new to me. I imagine if you've listened to the podcast that this might be a bit repetitive, but fans of The Office will love this one. Jenna Fischer is best known for playing Pam Beesly on the acclaimed television show The Office for which she received an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actress and two SAG Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble Comedy. Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey on The Office BFFs book

An intimate, behind-the-scenes celebration of beloved The Office co-stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey’s friendship, and an insiders' view of Pam Beesly, Angela Martin, and the iconic TV show.I haven’t listened to their podcast yet, but I already know I will love it! This book was upbeat, honest and full of so many fun stories and insights. What are some pitfalls Michael stumbles into as he attempts to build team morale? How would you foster a positive work culture if you were in his shoes? The biggest question when it comes to this book is should you read it or listen to the audiobook. I did both! (Thank you library!)

Fischer and Kinsey, co-hosts of the Office Ladies podcast, are engaging storytellers, and their often hilarious escapades as best friends make this joint tale fascinating for even the most casual fan of The Office. The chapter about the “Death Bus” episode (directed by Bryan Cranston), which nearly killed the entire cast, is laugh-out-loud funny, and Kinsey sums it up appropriately: “Pie mends all things, including near carbon monoxide poisoning.” Mostly employing a dialogue format, the authors walk the line between a behind-the-scenes look at the landmark comedy and the desire to maintain the secrets they share with their friends. (That said, many readers would love to hear the R-rated “master class in 1980s Hollywood gossip” that the authors learned from James Spader.) For hardcore Office fans, Fischer provides personal insight into some of her—and the show’s—most important scenes, including her wedding and what she said to Steve Carell in their final scene together before he left the show. Kinsey discusses the fascinating mechanics of hiding her pregnancy on screen and how she and Rainn Wilson (Dwight Schrute) navigated their first make-out scene. In addition to numerous insider insights about the creation and filming of the episodes, Fischer and Kinsey reveal much more about their friendship, their decision to launch their podcast—and a media company—together, as well as the struggles of being working mothers. Fischer writes about how she had to return to the show much faster than she wanted to after the birth of her son because, “in our business, there is no paid maternity leave.” Ultimately, the authors manage to make everyone feel like they are also one of their BFFs. This was really fun and made me want to watch The Office all over again but with the knowledge of what I know now from this book. The selling point for me was the collection of pictures that accompany these stories (putting faces with names). Be warned, however, the pictures (at least in the Kindle version of the book) are all credited (“Courtesy of Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey” over and over) but NONE of them are captioned. You have to make assumptions about who is in the photo and when/why, etc. Doing this a few times seems fine but doing this hundreds of times is not fun. It was tedious. I’m familiar with the Who’s Who of actors, writers, sometimes directors but I don’t know which guy is the boom operator or the props creator. It would be so nice to have a caption that reads something like “Pictured left to right: John Doe, Joe Schmoe on the first day of filming!”. Core characters are a mixed bag, with plenty of flaws and foibles, but most mean well. At least a handful seem to actually like their jobs. Jim and Pam are kind and can be relatable. Dwight is extremely loyal to the company, sometimes to a fault. Michael tries his best to have his team deliver excellence. They had to, HAD TO know a huge portion of their readers would also be listeners of their Office Ladies podcast. There is very little new material in the book. Hardly any insights can be found. The few new nuggets I gleaned were special, but they were from episodes they haven’t yet covered in the podcast, so probably just a preview of what’s to come. Appropriately subtitled “Tales of The Office from Two Best Friends Who Were There,” Jenna and Angela recount landing their roles of Pam and Angela, the start of the show, funny stories from filming throughout the show, and its well-done, emotional finale. ⁣ I liked The Office when it was airing live but I’ve come to love it in the past few years as a true comfort show. I know which episode it is in the first 30 seconds but that usually doesn’t stop me from rewatching or laughing like it’s one of my first 3-4 times seeing the episode. The Office is an American sitcom set in a mislead office environment. Lead by Micheal Scott (Steve Carell) every employee in the work place grows on you, and eventually you’ll love them like your best friends! They go through the goods and bad’s of life with you, and you’ll find tons of moments where you want to laugh your guts out, and some times where you want to cry. If I had children, I would definitely want them to experience this show sometime in their lives, but you may be asking “When is my child ready?” Well, I’m going to take you through it all in 5 sections:
