Description

The box set is beautifully crafted, with each disc housed in fold-out panels adorned with live photos. The front cover, featuring Lynott in the foreground, was originally supposed to be the back cover as the group wanted equal coverage of all members.

But it's not all about these tracks, the other tracks aren't here as fillers, and while the writing and playing quality is high throughout special mention needs to be made of the beautiful "Southbound" and the sublime seven minutes of "Still In Love With You" from the "Bad Reputation" and "Nightlife" albums respectively. To celebrate the anniversary, the album will be released as a definitive 8-CD super deluxe version featuring a newly remastered version of the original album alongside all of the gigs recorded for Live And Dangerous. Indeed the latter is probably their finest hour, when you consider it featured the brilliant title track, Emerald, Cowboy Song, and The Boys Are Back In Town. The Thin Lizzy Live and Dangerous 8cd box is a excellent product well worth the purchase if you are a big Lizzy fan as I am.By the mid-1970s, Thin Lizzy had stabilised around its founding members – singer and bassist Phil Lynott and drummer Brian Downey – and guitarists Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson. The band decided to release a live album after their producer Tony Visconti did not have enough time to work on a full studio session. The album had a working title of Thin Lizzy Live but Lynott decided that Live and Dangerous was better.

Has spent quality time with Robert Plant, Keith Richards, Ritchie Blackmore, Rory Gallagher and Gary Moore – and also spent time in a maximum security prison alongside Love/Hate. This in-the-round approach confirms what we already knew, namely that Lizzy were on-point every night. As far as the sound, so far I've listened to disc 1 and disc 5 and the sound is phenomenal: fresh and dynamic. how good this band were, and this extended collection is a must for any Robbo era Lizzy Fan, or any rock fan.In 2009, the live album Still Dangerous was released, which features material from the 20 October 1977 gig at Philadelphia that was used for some of Live and Dangerous. Since June 1978 we’ve debated whether Deep Purple, UFO, Status Quo or even Kiss released a better double live album than Thin Lizzy's Live And Dangerous. Visconti later said the performance of "Southbound" came from a soundcheck before one of the Philadelphia gigs, with the audience reaction dubbed from another song.
