Gail Arnold (26 July 2018). "Alan and Lisa Parsons Host Launch Party for New Studio". The Santa Barbara Independent . Retrieved 25 August 2020. Diabolic Night – Beneath the Crimson Prophecy – Defenders of the Faith on Cirith Ungol – Dark Parade The different singers throughout are not distracting, and it would seem that Parsons has very carefully chosen what songs fit the vocalist. However, the best vocals on the album, however, come from Parsons himself. “Don’t Fade Now” features his vulnerable vocals and is the high point of the album, and one of the best songs he has ever created. As good as the guests are, one cannot help but wish that Parsons sang lead more often. It is a brilliant song, lyrically and musically. The song, like much of the album, centres on viewing the past, and one’s place in the present. There must be a reason, why Parsons doesn't let the album end with "Goin' Home", which would have been perfect. ALAN PARSONS ANNOUNCES NEW STUDIO ALBUM 'FROM THE NEW WORLD' TO BE REL | News". Opener "Fare Thee Well" is a moving homage to Parsons' former musical partner Eric Woolfson in The Alan Parsons Project, who passed away in 2009. Great lyrics, but unfortunately a bland chorus and an unnerving saxophone solo. Parsons resides in Santa Barbara, California. He has two sons from his first marriage. He is married to Lisa Griffiths; they have two daughters. [2] [25] Discography [ edit ] Full discography [ edit ] Date Parsons engineered the third solo album by Steven Wilson, The Raven that Refused to Sing (And Other Stories), released on 25 February 2013. Legacy Recordings, the catalogue division of Sony Music Entertainment, celebrated the 35th anniversary of Eye in the Sky with the worldwide release of a definitive deluxe collector's box set, featuring rare and unreleased material, on 17 November 2017.

Though he clearly could’ve continued his highly successful recording studio career, Parsons went on to form The Alan Parsons Project in 1975. He credits singer/lyricist Eric Woolfson, the other half of the duo, for being “the main mover and shaker” in instigating this career shift. It turned out to be a good move: their international hits include “Games People Play,” “Time,” “Eye in the Sky,” and “Don’t Answer Me,” among many others. Another significant reason for naming this album From the New World , Parsons says, is “because everybody’s living in a new world with the pandemic in their lives. Third reason: my band is all American. And lastly, the fact that I’ve been living in America for 22 years now.” Lady Antebellum vs. The Alan Parsons Project". Freshmilc.com. Engineer [East West Studios Engineers] – Ivan Handwerk, Jeremy Miller, Jordan Cantor (2), Noah Bruskin As well as receiving gold and platinum awards from many nations, Parsons has received thirteen Grammy Award nominations. In 2006, he was nominated for Best Surround Sound Album for A Valid Path. In 2019, he won his first Grammy Award for Best immersive Audio Album for his remastered 35th anniversary edition of Eye in the Sky. [10] Mark Mikel handled lead vocals on the ballad 'Obstacles.' The song's most interesting facet was how much Mikel sounded like APP's David Paton. At least this one sounded like an Alan Parson song; albeit not a very good one.
