If by drawing a new Adventure card your hand of cards goes over four, you must discard back down to four. In addition to shared boundaries between territories which define routes of attack/defense, numerous special trans-oceanic or trans-sea routes are also marked; for example, the route between North Africa and Brazil. A licensed version of the game is also available for Android devices and PC on Steam which includes online play, device sharing, cross-play multiplayer and single player versus computer modes. If the defender has no more battalions in that territory, you must move the battalions that you just attacked with into that territory. The Battle of Five Armies is for two players only, and while the game does take a while to learn and to play, many gamers feel the depth of strategy provided, and the ability to change the story in unique ways makes up for the amount of effort involved.

Players get 1 point from Territories, 2 points from Strongholds, and anywhere from 2 to 7 points from Regions. As long as the attacker has enough battalions to attack, they can continue their attack on the territory or attack other territories.Thus when rolling three dice against two, three against one, or two against one, the attacker has a slight advantage, otherwise the defender has an advantage.
