Description

An independent woman, who seeks not only for validation in herself, but is also nervous of her family finding out the truth towards the path she has taken.

The fact that Lucas was confused and didn’t know Rosie loved him until Catalina rang him and told him was stupid. Girl idk even where to begin but i can say that i’ve never felt an ache this fucking strong in my heart like i did when reading this book. Brown’s careful scrutiny and still freely hanging… bits—and made it to the only place I could think of, given the circumstances, now someone was trying to force their way in. With nothing to lose, Rosie doesn’t hesitate to take him up on his proposal – but Lucas’ time in New York has an expiration date and, as their dating experiment begins to stir up some very real feelings, it quickly becomes clear that six weeks together just may not be enough. the only thing that could have saved this book is if lucas and rosie got struck by lightning when they were standing on a roof during a storm, having their first kiss. However, one of the best things about reading an Elena Armas book is that it’s clear that she’s a romance fan first and foremost, and The American Roommate Experiment is truly a book for the romance readers. Lucas was a cookie-cutter boyfriend, an amalgamation of all the “swoony” characteristics most readers like in a hero, and because of this was just rather bland. the longing, the aching, the undeniable chemistry Rosie and Lucas have for one another had me clutching my chest the entire way through.

Because as much as touching Lucas usually left every cell in my body tingling, I was beginning to understand that touching someone you loved was about much more than just that. Her silly, online crush is totally under control—but Lucas’s time in New York has an expiration date, and six weeks may not be enough, for either her or her deadline.I loved when Rosie was so obviously checking Lucas out and he would say something like “like what you see? this man cooked for her every single night since the first night they spent together in the apartment. You know he’s a keeper when you tell him that you wish you met him at your best friend's wedding and he bakes the freaking cake that was at the wedding dances with you on a rooftop and sets the entire thing up for his ‘best friend’ it’s giving Marinette and Adrien vibes. idk there was just something so refreshing reading about her and the way she lusted for Lucas even before officially meeting him. Armas does a fantastic job showing her characters' developing feelings and allowing the romantic tension to drive the plot.

When I’d told Lucas about the Masquerade Ball, he’d just said he was in and we’d started talking about costume ideas. and because of this, you can’t tell me this was a slowburn romance— it was just insta-love masquerading as a slowburn). it’s okay to be different boo😭😭there was already outside drama with rosie’s family that i really wasn’t vibing with and got quite bored with at times, but luckily the majority of the book was about lucas and rosie hehe.

And then he proposes an outrageous experiment to bring back her literary muse and meet her deadline: He'll take her on a series of experimental dates meant to jump-start her romantic inspiration. Lucas offers to let Rosie stay with him, at least until she can find some affordable temporary housing. and he’d lie and say something silly like “it means i’m hungry” when in reality he just spitted out the most poetic romantic shit ever. He always put other before him and was taken back when Rosie put him first cared about what he wanted I just wanted to wrap him up and keep him safe from the world. She hopes her stories make your heart skip a beat or two, your palms a little sweaty, and your cheeks flush in that rosy pink that makes other people want to peek at the page you are reading.
