Description

The Stryfe is a clip system Nerf Blaster originally released in 2013 as part of the N-Strike Elite series. It's one of the favorite blasters within the Nerf Mod community, and has had a couple of makeovers since it's original release, with noticeable differences like it's new bright orange chassis and 'nerfed' motors (excuse the pun). [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="480"] Nerf Stryfe - Before and After the Worker Mod Conversion[/caption] Although Nerf Blasters are essentially toys, they can be so much more when you add some third-party modifications to the mix. In this blog, we'll take a look at some of the modifications now available from RC Geeks, how to install them, and how it affects the appearance and performance of the blaster. The Stryfe's design is believed to have been derived from the popular Barricade RV-10 clip system modification, which replaces its cylinder with the clip well (from a different blaster, such as the Raider CS-35), effectively making the Barricade a clip-fed blaster. The Stryfe eliminates the need to carry out this modification. One fix to this problem is by simply inserting pieces of paper in between the extension's rear and Stryfe's muzzle, or putting a thin layer of adhesive rubber padding instead. The full image gallery for Stryfe (N-Strike Elite) may be viewed at Stryfe (N-Strike Elite)/Gallery.

In 2014, an Elite XD variant of the Stryfe was released. Later versions of the XD Stryfe do away with the dart sensor completely, a trend that would follow suit with newer releases.Due to the Stryfe not being designed with a specific extension in mind, the Recon's (or later, Retaliator's) barrel extension tends to wobble left-and-right when attached. In addition, it has the "CS" number code instead of "ECS", even though it's battery-operated; a similar naming convention was used for the Rayven CS-18, RapidStrike CS-18 and later the Titan CS-50. Alpha Trooper CS-18 • Deploy CS-6 • Longshot CS-6 • LongStrike CS-6 • Raider Rapid Fire CS-35 • Rayven CS-18 • Recon CS-6 • Stampede ECS The Stryfe, originally spelled Strife, was first announced in a Wired article about the N-Strike Elite series [3]

Alpha Trooper CS-12 • Firestrike • RapidStrike CS-18 • Rayven CS-18 • Rayven Stinger • Rough Cut 2x4 • Spectre REV-5 • Strongarm • Stryfe • Triad EX-3 Due to the inner barrel width of the LongStrike CS-6's barrel extension, it will be worn down on the inside when attached to the Stryfe (if it can be attached at all). It does not wobble like the Retaliator's barrel extension, however.

Unlike other flywheel blasters like the Rayven CS-18 or Hail-Fire, the Stryfe has a dart sensor that prevents the trigger from being pulled if a dart is not loaded in the magazine; worn darts may not be detected by this sensor. There was an older version of the Stryfe that was available for the first few months of the Stryfe's release that had boosted motors. It is unknown as to why the motors were downgraded.
