So if you’ve had any of those Wathen’s, and liked them, you’ll probably like this too – or vice versa. Though if you’re looking for the same-old Ezra Brooks taste… this ain’t it. Definitely among my favorite “bottom shelf bourbons”. The aroma brings in plenty of dark fruit, sometimes coming through as dried blueberries, to compliment the slivers of oak; Palate is not as rich or deep as the aroma but still pleasant with more of a grain presence; Finish is a nice sweet fade. The oak presence increases as it opens.

Nose with Water: More green, herbaceous hints come forward and definitely stronger citrus. A bit metallic, but still very sweet with lovely vanilla. You may be surprised to realize that most of the common brands you’ve heard of actually are bottom-shelf. Or at least produce a bottom-shelf variety. (Which proves my point above: they are worth it!)
