Description

The Blundstone 550 uses a mold-injected TPU outsole that’s cemented onto the leather upper. This is my biggest concern with Blundstones—yes, cemented construction is cheap and fast, but if the glue fails or if it wasn’t applied perfectly, there’s a good chance the leather will separate from the sole. I also like that the footbed is removable so you can add your own custom insert if you struggle with foot fatigue or any sort of pain. You are comfortable all day long as well due to the Xtreme comfort EVA footbeds and XRD™ Technology in the heel and front of the soles. An easy to pull on work boot with elastic gussets and finger loop pull tabs. Available in Brown Leather.

Still, I slipped them on and thought, these are Ugg boots masquerading as something a little less frumpy, a little less embarrassing (for me). The shearling lining on the insole offers the same effect of walking on a pillow or a cloud, but this was a pair of boots I could stand to be caught dead in. Blundstones come in UK/AU sizes, which are different than US sizing. For instance, I’m a size 10.5 in US sizing, which makes me a size 9.5 in AU sizing, which Blundstone uses.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, the fit for the Blundstone 550 is comfortable. As I said earlier, I bought these for my wife, so I’ve never worn the 550, but the 500s I own are built on the same last and have the same shape. I doubt there’s any major difference in the fit and feel. Use a dry suede brush to scrub off any surface stains or dirt (if you have any scuff marks, you can remove them with a standard gum eraser). The 550 has a leather lining in the shaft of the boot, but the lining doesn’t extend through the full length of the upper. The majority of the instep and the toe box have a cloth lining, which isn’t nearly as durable. So while the extra leather should make these boots a bit more comfortable around the ankle and heel, it doesn’t add any meaningful longevity.

There’s no difference between the Classic 550 and the Super 550 other than the name. So you don’t need to go hunting a super version down like I did for 10 minutes. Things to Consider Before Buying Blundstone 550 Boots The Blundstone 1615 Chelsea boots, a waxed suede finish boots in Dark Olive leather. The 1615 is an unassuming but sophisticated twist on the Original 500 Series boot. With a Water-repellent upper and strong rubber soles. The Dark Olive Suede boot is a modern twist on a timeless design. Also, with a Goodyear welt, you get a lot more water resistance, and you have the option to resole the boot in a few years time when the heel eventually wears down. Leather is considered a renewable material, and we currently source 95% of our leather from sustainably certified tanneries. We also choose to be a member of the Leather Working Group for a range of reasons, the key being access to their environmental assessment tools, audit protocol and rating system, and third party services. It's also worth bearing in mind that half sizes in Blundstones provide extra width not length so a 5.5 is the same length as a 5, just a bit wider. In practice the sole of both boots is the same, the only difference is that in the half sizes there is more leather in the upper to give a bit more room.

HELP

They're not my all-time favorite boots when it comes to style, but I've grown to appreciate them, especially in the Rustic colorway. They have a worn-in finish, which is perfect for boots that might get roughed up — if you scuff them, it'll blend right into the natural look. Always store your boots in a well ventilated, cool place away from sunlight or any heat which will tarnish the leather. Dampen a suede brush with water and put a small amount of suede and leather cleaner on it and clean the shoe, as detailed above in the ‘Cleaning Leather’ section. The one downside of the Thermal pair is that they are really meant for cold weather, so they can be too warm to wear in more moderate temps or over the summer. I usually start wearing them in the fall and put them away in the spring, swapping them out for more lightweight summer Chelsea boots.

That said, thousands of people have given their Blundstone 550 boots a 5-star rating and absolutely love them. While most boots have a sleek upper, both the Blundstone 550 and 585 have a wide, rounded toe, wide enough to get your foot in without using force or a shoehorn. These boots are made to fit snugly around your ankle but over time, will loosen a bit over your instep but never lengthwise, making for a fit that continues to mold to your foot for years to come. Seamless If you're after an everyday pair of boots that are comfortable, hardwearing and boast a timeless sense of style, then look no further than these Blundstone 550 pull on boots for men. I think the Blundstone 550 is overpriced. I’ve reviewed over 50 boots at this point, and I’m disappointed that Blundstone seems to have cut every quality corner they can. Founded in 1870 in Tasmania, Australia, Blundstone is easily one of the most well-regarded footwear brands in the Southern Hemisphere. At its start, the brand was a boot supplier for Aussie troops in World Wars I and II, but it wasn't until 1969 when the brand introduced its most iconic silhouette, the 500 series Chelsea boot. You should use a leather conditioner on your boots whenever they need them. If your boots are looking a little scuffed and worn, always remember to use a conditioner. The Blundstone Polishing Pad is an easy to apply leather conditioner.
