This String Hopper Machine also Known Idiyappam Machine is made by highly skilled Sri Lankan craftsmen using a variety of cutting tools. Eco friendly, safe, non-toxic, and long-lasting wood varieties are used to make this String Hoppers Machine. String hoppers are an essential part of a Sri Lankan breakfast. They are very good for smooshing into the curries and sambols. Pour hot water over the rice flour and mix it well. leave for few minutes till it cools a little. Once it gets warm enough to handle, you can use your hands to knead till soft. String hoppers can also be served with curries at dinner as they were at the luxurious Max Wadiya villa. The private Chef there, Ranjan, gave us a string hopper making master-class (above).
