About this deal

i went into this book with zero expectations and literally on page 10 i told my best friend on facetime "this is five stars, mark my words. Ama is a wedding planner taking on her first big client and they insist they use Elliot as their florist. Overall, in a nutshell, if you're after a light and uncomplicated second chance romance, this book fits the bill. Although she had feelings for him she kept it to herself and rather than dealing like a grown ass adult she shut herself down and went with flow with resulted in elliot being hurt numerous times.

This book took something seemingly unremarkable and made it new and shiny and gave it a backstory that makes complete and total sense. Their relationship initially began with hook-ups, and while that's completely acceptable, it did feel like there was a lack of chemistry or sexual tension between them in many instances. I think a lot of the depth that was missing could have been shown more during the flashbacks, and possibly, by adding some of Ama's POV to the past and Elliot's POV to the present. There's a little bit of sad but a lot of love, of choosing your own way and making decisions that will set you on a brighter path. The author has created real, relatable characters - you may not always agree with them but you will love them! After Stevie has an accident, she cannot remember the last two years of her life, including graduating high school, realizing she might not be straight, and even planning to move across the country with her girlfriend. Sometimes you start a book and you just know from the start that it will be a shining 5/5 and that it will stay with you for a long time. I was pleasantly surprised the author was able to come up with something that felt fresh and different using this trope. Elliot is a florist who is anything but sweet to anyone he meets—although he does have a soft spot only for one person.

After being taken out about a million times, the little crosses are almost stripped down to perfect circles.

This book was different in many ways; it had the current events in Ama's POV, but all the flashbacks were from Elliot's POV, which actually hooked me to this book.

I enjoyed all the thought and detail that was put into this book and as I said, the sweet moments Ama and Elliot did have together were very touching and almost made up for all of it. Have you ever wanted to be friends with someone new, but you felt pressure from other kids not to make a new friend? what i find outstanding about 'Forget Me Not' is how the past chapters retracing the protagonists’ relationship were mainly recounted from the main male character point of view and how the present chapters were transcribed from the female protagonist’s perspective only. I can't really comment on the emotional attachment because the relationship started purely physical with cute moments, and in the flashbacks, it eventually grew into a lot more. Back home to Devon and into a kayak, I travel down a swollen, autumnal river to try and understand why, in the face of climate change, the epic salmon run might become a feat of the past.I find that they always add nuance and clarity to the story and I loved seeing their relationship develop then and now. I do think I would’ve enjoyed this much more if we’d seen some flashbacks of them falling in love and their relationship developing, though. I appreciated the creativity of it all and loved how much both of those things played an important role in the story without it taking away from the development of the romance and the characters.
