They claim to provide an easy way for you to plan where you're going to place your tent without having to pitch it fully, and provide an extra layer of waterproofing and insulation from the ground below. The central living area in the tent is a rather decent size. The beam shape on the Berghaus Freedom 7 means the walls are almost vertical, resulting in much bigger feeling and useable living space inside. There are side windows located at the sides of the porch area but there are none across the front wall. The weather was kind to us, so for a lot of the time we had this front wall removed.

There are 2 side doors, both with inner mesh panels and windows. One has an air canopy over the top for entry when the weather is wet. The other door has eyelets in the lower corners and can be king poled out if you have any. Each of the side doors also have mesh panels so if you need to have them open to let some cool air through, you won’t have a tent full of bugs. Again it splits into thirds, so you can do stuff like have an entrance on both sides, leaving the middle in place. You’ll see from a number of the photos in this review that we had chairs, tables, foot stool and other storage stuff in there with plenty of room to spare. Tent footprints are available to buy separately from tents at outdoor retailers. They're essentially an extra groundsheet that you can pitch before your tent, with the aim of pitching your tent on top of it.It's very common for manufacturers to be generous about the number of people they say can fit inside their tents. The number they give will be technically true, but it probably won't account for the space needed for campers' belongings, or the space people need for a comfortable night's sleep. This again is a rather large area and we used it as our kitchen/food preparation area. There’s no ground sheet in this area, so there’s no slipping problems if there are any spills. An optional awning or canopy can provide protection from the sun and rain, creating a shaded area from which to enjoy the outdoors without having to stay inside your tent. 10) Extra features

Zip electric hook-up access point - on both sides of tent with Velcro tidies to run the cable to a lantern point The Freedom seven is fully waterproof having been tested to a hydro static head of 6000 mm. The groundsheet is fully sealed so drafts are greatly reduces. The side entrance has a hood to allow leak free exit and entrance.New for 2022, the Freedom range from Berghaus blends a 'Retro Euro-style tent' with cutting edge inflatable technology. There are also tents with inflatable poles. You'll need to pump up each pole individually, so it can take a bit of effort, but you can avoid trying to feed the poles through the tent canvas. In the living area, we used the carpet out of the Berghaus Telstar tent and it was almost a perfect fit.

There are 2 large windows stretching from the roof almost to the low level. These have blinds, allowing for half open, fully open or fully closed configuration. The Berghaus Freedom 7 tent can be inflated in just a few minutes and deflated in seconds. The quoted inflayion time is 15 minutes with the tent fully pitched in around 30 minutes. Berghaus have produced robust air beams that will stand up to strong winds. The porch is spacious and can be used as a storage area, shady sitting area or toy room.

The Berghaus Freedom 7 even large windows on the dividing wall between the living area and front porch as well as many different configurations. A height for heads – I’m almost 6” tall and with arm stretched, I can just touch the highest point of this tent. If you are on the taller side, this would be a great tent for you. Being able to walk around inside, without having to be constantly crouching over. On the other side, if you are a shorty, you may well struggle to get your lights up on the hanging hooks without something to stand on.We inspect the interiors of the tents during and after testing to see how each fares against the elements. Some tents manage to stay firm, but others blow over and even have puddles in the sleeping compartments. Once the tents are up, we closely inspect the interior of each one and rate them on how likely campers are to have a comfortable and enjoyable experience that meets their needs. A well-ventilated tent will make for a more comfortable, condensation-free camping experience, and well-positioned vent panels and doors with fly screens allow for the free flow of air while keeping bugs out of your sleeping space. 4) Indoor space and flexible sleeping compartments You'll want to ensure your tent footprint is the same size as the tent you're pitching – several manufacturers sell footprints specifically to fit certain tent models.
