About this deal

I truly believe that if you implement the Tao Te Ching's advice, you will live a greatly richer and improved life. If you want to read it for Dyer's pseudo-intellectual, pseudo-spiritual, fluffed up (whatever happened to the 81st verse's "fine-sounding words are not true"? Now, I probably won't win any awards for my translation, but the point is that, through picking a poetic sounding translation, Dyer completely misses what the verse is about. This was my greatest discovery when I started studying my mind, studying my habits, beliefs, and the kind of thoughts I was entertaining.

As Wayne says, 'This is a book that will forever change the way you look at your life, and the result will be that you'll live in a new world aligned with nature. Change Your Thoughts – Change Your Life (2007) takes you through each verse of the Tao Te Ching, the classic text related to the philosophical and spiritual traditions of Taoism. That said, I don't think this makes it impossible to use the "Dao De Jing" to find meaning and utility in your day to day life, but even if one grants that, one has to admit Dyer's interpretations are all over the place, lazy, and at times completely nonsensical.Wayne Dyer chose a most appropriate title for this book because changing your thoughts WILL change your life. John's University in New York, and honored a lifetime commitment to learning and finding the Higher Self. John's, which focused on positive thinking and motivational speaking techniques, attracted students beyond those enrolled. Since we get so occupied with the external reality, we don't really give much focus to the internal reality, which is where creation stems from. He was a guidance counselor in Detroit at the high school level and a professor of counselor education at St.

I used to think certain situations happening to me were "pre-destined" when in reality; I was creating my destiny through my thoughts. The "miss" part is quite a lot of long-winded, esoteric naval-gazing that starts nowhere, and ends up in the same place; minus the time it took for you to read it. When I listen and reflect on Steven Mitchell's version I feel a lump in my throat as I do when I hear any pure wisdom. Some of the chapter titles are "Living with Flexability", "Living without Enemies", and "Living by Letting Go".School does not and has not ever really taught people how to live and it’s because no one teaches people how to think properly. I listen to this book, feeling as if the Chinese culture, the Tao is being somewhat Christianized, and I feel like listening the Tao while the message is just Wayne Dyer! I finished reading the book all the way through and though I don't take every single verse of the Tao to heart, there is enough good here that I purchased my own copy, since I also had a 40% off coupon and got the paperback.
