There may be some water residue in the tank. This is due to each Funky Iron being rigorously tested before leaving the factory. The business originally started life as The Funky Iron Company, with Sadie and Joe designing a unique looking electric steam iron. The Funky Iron idea was born from the couple being avid ironers – thanks, in part, to the couple’s three children as there was always a lot of ironing to be done in their household!

You can also use it for vertical steaming, on clothes which are hanging up, as well as on your ironing board. With 2600w of power, it doesn’t get quite as hot and steamy as the Tefal Ultimate Pure – but I liked the spray nozzle and option to use a 210g steam shot to get rid of entrenched creases (although you have to wait four seconds between each shot). is standard for a handheld steam iron and proved more than adequate in my tests. Cordless models, as Teresa says, tend to be less powerful at 2400W. My best buy, the Tefal, is an impressive 3100W. Classic steam irons should be more than powerful enough for everyday household use, letting out steam to moisten and relax the fabric before you remove the creases.I like that it comes with a jug for pouring water in without spillage. A big red light flashes slowly to let you know it’s heating up, which takes a couple of seconds. In essence, this investment over 5 years has allowed us to bring our three core products to market: the Funky Iron (December 2018) and the Funky Kettle and Funky Toaster (January 2021). All three products required significant investment in the bespoke tooling and intellectual property.
