This is what we all wanted for many months. Great quality products that haven’t skipped corners. Instead they have made something good, great and I for one am very happy, as this is my new favourite handheld and a strong contender for the best retro handhelds of the year even when it has strong competition around. With the vast options of consoles to emulate the battery life for me did vary, but from my tests and mixing with brightness and volume settings I was pulling a solid 5 hours out of this device at high brightness which is reasonable for a device of this power. version of Linux that’s been streamlined to run emulators most efficiently. Retroarch Retroarch provides most of the cores/emulators that run the provided games. The Select RETROARCH from the main menu and then either retroarch or retroarch32. The RG350M features the same JZ4770 Dual Core processor running up to 1.0Ghz with DDR2 512MB RAM. The start and select are in the same position. I know many of you like these on the face of the device but I do not, and the outdated white text doesn’t help the minimal metal aesthetic in my opinion. The Linux OS comes on its own 16GB card. There is a second card that is 64GB which is used for the game files storage.
After several minutes of sitting idle, your handheld will start playing videos of random installed games. This is the screen-saver. To play the game currently displayed, press START. To exit the screen-saver, press one of the face buttons. Trying different cores/emulators PSP pushes the limit of what this kind of device can emulate, but these settings give you the best available experience.The Linux OS runs a combination of Emulation Station and RetroArch to provide a wealth of gaming options on many classic game’s consoles from the 1970’s to more modern day on the RG353M. The Android OS requires some setting up but ultimately provides a wider range of computers and consoles to relive the classics on. You can also go the third route by installing a custom firmware on a SD card to use on the handheld gaming console which provides over 90 classic systems to choose from! And last but not least we have a screen protector and some wipes for when applying it to your handheld. Overview of the RG353M There is also the built-in screen controller mapping which we have seen in Anbernic’s recent Android handhelds. It works very well and definitely gives you the upper hand on games such as first person shooters! Benchmark Results and Comparison From here on is where the improvements have been made to the retro console. The first thing you will notice is the Aluminium Alloy casing available in Space Grey and Rose Gold. It gives the RG350M a real premium feel and look.
The RG353M is the ultimate handheld gaming console with high performance and reliability all contained in a stylish aluminium alloy case. On the top of the RG353M are shoulder and trigger buttons.
