Very rarely, an unpleasant taste has been reported. Stop using the ear drops immediately if this happens and tell your doctor. A hard plug of wax can be softened using Otex ear drops. Wax can also be removed by your doctor or practice nurse, by flushing the ear with warm water (syringing). If there is a lot of wax or the wax is very hard, it may need to be softened first and Otex ear drops can also be used for this. if you have a history of ear problems, unless used under the close supervision of your doctor, nurse or pharmacist.

Otex ear drops contain the active ingredient urea hydrogen peroxide, which helps to soften ear wax. Urea hydrogen peroxide works to soften ear wax by releasing oxygen which breaks up hardened wax, it also has some antiseptic properties. It is recommended you use a dropper while lying your head on one side for a few minutes to let the oil work its way through your ear canal(s).
