Its master distiller, Jorge Perez Rafael, is the most decorated distiller in México. When we created Deadhead Rum in 2011, we did so because we wanted to bring deserved attention to, and honor to, the storied history of rum production in México. Starting with our own tribe, which we call the Tiki Council – those spirited cheerleaders both inside and outside the company who shout our message of authenticity and commitment to excellence every day.

Tsantsa, neboť takto se ty hlavy vlastně jmenují, se podle všeho uchovávaly jako trofeje a měly pro původní indiánské obyvatelstvo silný duchovní význam. Za originálním ztvárněním stojí Kim Brandi. Je to opravdu okouzlující dáma, pod jejímž rukama vznikly i další extravagantní značky jako KAH tequila (jedinečné ručně malované láhve ve tvaru lebky calavera) či Apocalypto Tequila.

Deadhead rum is an amalgamation of great raw materials and a delicate process, deeply rooted in tradition and reflecting the heritage of its native land. The brand makes its rum from fresh cane juice and molasses, aging each distillate in different carefully selected casks before meticulously blending them into its perfectly balanced and complex expressions. Deadhead Dark Chocolate Rum was inspired by ancient recipes used by Mayan and Aztec Emperors. The Aztecs and the Maya believed that chocolate is a gift from the god, and there is something divine about this chocolate infused aged rum. The rum for this expression is distilled from sugar cane juice and molasses, and matured in casks for 5 years. This rich and full-bodied rum is then infused with locally sourced, decadently dark, slow roasted Cacao, enhancing the natural qualities of the aged rum, and allowing the chocolate and rum to exist in perfect balance. The scrumptious drink is then bottled in the brand’s signature shrunken head bottle, which is shaped as a monkey head for this expression.

The Tasting Panel rated Deadhead aged rum with a 95-point score and gave Deadhead Dark Chocolate Rum a 92 score. I recommend buying one bottle at least for the appearance and if you like it, buy another and tell your guests they were traveling salesmen....WERE.... Para lograr un sabor sutil pero a su vez intrigante, el r on se envejece durante más de seis años en barricas de roble de Chiapas y de roble americano muy carbonizadas. Estos dos rones se mezclan meticulosamente para lograr el equilibrio perfecto y la complejidad de un licor bien elaborado. Pokud chcete, klidně můžete něco ze svého Deadhead rumu obětovat i do originálního míchaného drinku. Například na takový Zombie koktejl (recept jsem našel na stránce výrobce). Ale nezapomeňte, že byste ho měli popíjet opravdu střídmě, už jen při pohledu na jeho složení je vidět, že je to pořádná nálož. No opravdu nebude… Přiznávám totiž bez mučení – mám opravdu rád hlavně sladké rumy. A v poslední době vyhledávám sice také sladší, ale více osobitější a chuťově výraznější (výborný Barceló Imperial Onyx například, když si tak vezmu zpětně jednu z mých předešlých recenzí). Tento Deadhead rum mi už přijde na můj vkus dost hořký. Čím ale nechci říct, že někomu by nemohl v pohodě sednout (kdo řekněme víc inklinuje k sušším agricole rumům).
