About this deal

This 30w bulb is 748mm long excluding pins and 762mm long including pins. The manufacturer specifies a tolerance of +/- 2mm for these tubes. As previously mentioned, fluorescent tubes range from the modern T2 to the old style T12. The slim-line T2 tubes feature a W4.3 fitting and a 4.3 mm wide push fitting. T4 tubes are best suited to under-cabinet lighting and have a G5 fitting with 5mm separating the two pins. Standard T8 tubes have a G13 fitting, with 13mm separating the pins. The T12 tubes came complete with the same G13 cap as the T8 tube, meaning that older T12 tubes can be replaced with T8 tubes. Wattage of Fluorescent Tube

Despite being an older model, the T12 fluorescent tube lights still offer a range of color temperatures at different watts. However, their limited lifespan of 15,000 hours still makes T12 fluorescent lights a less attractive option compared to the smaller fluorescent tube lights or LEDs. Frequently Asked Questions:

Another aspect to remember about T5 fluorescent lighting is the different output possibilities. There are three levels of output available on the market; normal output (NO), high output (HO) and very high output (VHO). These tubes from Leyton Lighting have plastic end caps that can be removed. This makes the tube slightly shorter which can help with installation into some brands of light fitting.

When considering the question of how do I know which fluorescent light bulb to buy you need to figure out what you currently have. Once you have removed the bulb most will be marked with the type on the end, if there are no markings then you can measure the tube diameter to determine their type. What are the different types of fluorescent tubes? T4 fluorescent fittings have been discontinued since 2015 due to EU regulations. The electronics are located in the light fitting and not the tube. If you are finding your lamps are not lasting as long as expected, this would indicate a fault in the light fitting and not the tube - unless the tube is physically smashed it's very unlikely to have a fault. You can test tubes and fittings by swapping tube from another working fitting. Unfortunately manufacturers no longer provide a guarantee for T4 tubes, as the light fittings they are installed into may be approaching the end of their life. T8 lights are a good choice for an adjustable lighting system because of their color temperature range from a soft yellow-white to bright daylight. You will also have several options that you can connect to a dimmer.

There is no industry standard for the length or wattage of T4 tube lights. They can range anywhere from 6 watts to 30 watts, the lower the number the lower the energy consumption , and many lengths. Think about these differences in tube lighting the next time you need to convert fluorescent lighting to LED. The different sizes are not directly interchangeable so if you want to use another size then you will have to do a bit of handiwork.

T12 fittings use a magnetic start ballast which is less energy efficient. The smaller and newer models have already been fitted with the more energy-efficient electric ballasts. The ballast is what regulates the current to the fluorescent lamps and provides sufficient voltage to start the lamps Fluorescent lighting is economical to run and uses long-lasting tubes to provide bright and effective general lighting. T4 fluorescent tubes are ideal for home and commercial use for kitchen worktops, in cabinets, under stairs, as a pelmet lamp, or to create a well-lit workstation for DIY, craft, or commercial use. T5 bulbs are great for large space such as schools, supermarkets, offices, and underground railways. T8 bulbs can be used in schools, garages, offices, conference rooms, retail stores, and most other environments.

Now you know all you need to about fluorescent tubes sizes and their differences. But below we will answer the questions that people ask us the most. What is the difference between T5 T8 and T12 lights? If you would like to switch out a T5 light for a T8 light or vice versa then you will need to use a ballast. Finding the correct ballast size may also take some effort as there is no industry standard for them. T12 Tube T8 fluorescent tubing is the ideal option if you want to see a good level of detail.
