About this deal

In the MMORPG World of Warcraft, (and other games in the Warcraft series) mithril is used to make weapons, armor, and gadgets. The wide world is all about you: you can fence yourselves in, but you cannot forever fence it out.” However, Galadriel reveals that Saruman and Elrond have accompanied her to Dol Guldur, and the two battle the Ringwraiths while Galadriel attempts to heal Gandalf with a kiss, an action which drains her energy. Radagast arrives to take Gandalf away, and Galadriel resists Gandalf's plea to have her join him. After the Ringwraiths are defeated, Sauron himself manifests and restores the Nazgûl as he bears down on the White Council, threatening them with the fall of the West and the rise of Angmar. While Saruman and Elrond recoil in horror in the presence of the Dark Lord, Galadriel rises in her darker ethereal form to challenge Sauron.

As with The Battle of the Five Armies, The Return of the King’s plot is essentially all spoilers, so we’ll again highlight only the broadest story beats. Gollum, exploiting the influence of the Ring, pits Frodo against Sam and leads the former into the lair of a deadly foe. The other members of the Fellowship, meanwhile, partake in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields — a massive, final fight against the dark forces of Sauron. Though we may think we’re not good enough, and even when we feel afraid, we still hold the potential to do as much as any other person. Anyone can do anything when they put their minds to it.As Aragorn's ships sailed up the Anduin to relieve the besieged Minas Tirith during the War of the Ring, the standard flying on his ship shows a crown made of mithril and gold. Once in Caras Galadhon, Galadriel allowed Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee to peer into the Mirror of Galadriel, enabling them to glimpse possible events of the future. She, in turn, was tested when Frodo later offered to place the One Ring in her keeping. To illustrate what would happen if she accepted, she presented an image of herself corrupted by the ring, declaring:

Through Celebrían's wedding to Elrond, Galadriel was the grandmother of Elladan, Elrohir, and Arwen. The helmets of the Guard of the Citadel were made of mithril, heirlooms of Gondor's past wealth. After the War of the Ring Minas Tirith's Great Gate was rebuilt by the Dwarves of Aglarond out of mithril and steel. Arwen was described to be the most beautiful of the last generation of High Elves in Middle-earth, and was even said to bear a remarkable resemblance to her ancestress, Lúthien. J.R.R. Tolkien described Arwen as following:The only potential confusion in the Lord of the Rings-Hobbit timeline comes from the fact that The Hobbit trilogy is set 60 years before The Lord of the Rings, despite being released a decade later. The first rendition of his name, before the final stages of the legendarium, was Eärendel. Epithets [ ] Now this babe was of greatest beauty; his skin of a shining white and his eyes of a green surpassing that of the meadows in the southern lands -- greener than the emeralds of the raiment of Manwe;~ and the envy of Meglin was deep at his birth, but the joy of Turgon and all the people very great indeed" — The Book of Lost Tales Part Two, " The Fall of Gondolin" Etymology [ ] In place of a Dark Lord you will have a queen. Not dark but beautiful and terrible as the dawn! Treacherous as the seas. Stronger than the foundations of the earth! All shall love me and despair." Then swiftly she returned to her original form, seemingly smaller and frailer than before, declaring, " I pass the test," refusing the Ring and accepting the fate of diminishing (as the time of the Dominion of Men had come), and returning at last to Valinor. As the Fellowship departed, she gave each member a gift and an Elven cloak, and outfitted the party with boats and supplies. Gimli, in particular, was touched by Galadriel's nobility and beauty, and asked for one strand of her golden hair as an heirloom of his house; she generously gave him three (having refused the same request from Fëanor), which he later set in an impregnable crystal.

In the late Second Age and early Third Age, they mainly served to warn southern Gondor of a danger to the northern province of Calenardhon, or vice versa, but after the Steward of Gondor Cirion granted Calenardhon to the Éothéod, they were used mainly to warn the people in Anórien of danger. Calls for aid between Gondor and Rohan were exchanged by a messenger carrying the Red Arrow instead. Some believe that the majority of Galadriel's powers came from her ring: Nenya, the Ring of Water. In a letter to his friend Milton Waldman dating from 1951, however, Tolkien stated that Rings of Power could only enhance the "natural powers of the possessor" and not grant entirely new powers. [11]In addition to this, Galadriel's power to perceive the thoughts of others was apparent from her early youth, long before she obtained Nenya. In some tales, she was also depicted with the powers of communicating over vast distances, predicting the future, and even cloaking her mind from other powerful beings (she once stated that Sauron could not perceive her mind, though she could perceive his). This power was the most closely connected to her Ring, as The Silmarillion tells us the Elves were able to perceive the mind of Sauron when they put on their rings. It is also possible that her powers of divination were either derived from or accentuated by her mirror, which could reveal events of the past, present, and future.

In the video game Kingdom Hearts, mithril is a rare material used for "synthesis" in high-level items. Galadriel possessed a tremendous amount of magical powers, and was said to be the greatest of the Ñoldor in that regard after Fëanor. While studying at Oxford, after discovering Éarendel in the lines from Crist, Tolkien developed a constructed language that later became Quenya. As of around 1915, he believed that this language needed an internal history, and was spoken by Elves whom his invented character Eärendil meets in his journeys. The next step in his creation of the underlying mythology was the Lay of Eärendil, a work composed of several poems describing the mariner Eärendil and his voyages, and how his ship is turned into a star. The mysterious land of Valinor and its Two Trees of gold and silver were first described in this cycle. She played a pivotal role in the formation of the White Council, though her counsel to put Gandalf at its head was not followed. [9] War of the RingWhile Moria was the only known source of mithril, there are inconclusive indications that it may also have been found in Númenor and Aman in smaller quantities. [ citation needed] The mithril coat [ ] The big reveal came after he manipulated the elves into forging rings from the mithril, no doubt hoping to wield its power for himself. In his enthusiasm he let a few tells slip, which encouraged Galadriel to do some investigating leading to the discovery of his true identity. (More on that here.) Though specifically spoken about hobbits in the book, the quote can be applied to all of us. We’re all hobbits in a sense; normal people going about their business and yet secretly wanting adventure. Upon returning to Lindon, she is met by her friend, Elrond, who—although glad to see her—warns her that the High King Gil-galad disapproves of her insistence that Sauron still poses a threat to Elf-kind. Galadriel agrees to hold her tongue, and she is honoured with the rest of her companions by the King, who gives them the gift of returning to Valinor; it is unclear why Galadriel had to earn this journey, as the Elves were allowed to travel freely to Valinor, and did not have to earn it. While Galadriel leaves with the others on a ship to Valinor, she changes her mind at the last moment, diving into the sea. Nonetheless, Galadriel was still banned from returning to Valinor at this point, since she had rejected the pardon of the Valar—so it is unclear why Gil-galad thought that she would be allowed into Aman.
