About this deal

The camera setup and large 5,000 mAh battery is shared across half a dozen Moto G phones, from the lowly G32 all the way to the G82. This leaves the screen as the other major difference, alongside the chipset. And the Moto G62 gets a 6.5" IPS LCD panel of buttery smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Motorola Moto G62 5G specs at a glance: Let’s face it – it is an entry-level Samsung SK5JN1, 50MP with tiny .64um pixels binned to 12.5MP and 1.28um. Add to that the Qualcomm SD480+ has entry-level AI image processing, which is adequate.

The maximum volume is 80dB. Hands-free is adequate, but the sound is a little tinny. Build – solid – Pass App loads can be noticeably slower than those of phones from a step up, including the Moto G82 5G. This phone also has less RAM than Google recommends as the optimal minimum for Android 12; with 4GB rather than 6GB. It’s likely why the phone is not 100% smooth, and can lag in quite an obvious way if you’re a fast-fingered app juggler. We use Fail (below expectations), Pass (meets expectations) and Exceed (surpasses expectations or is the class leader) against many of the items below. We occasionally give a Pass(able) rating that is not as good as it should be and a Pass ‘+’ rating to show it is good but does not quite make it to Exceed. Battery life is good, though it doesn’t quite reach the heights of the old Moto G50 5G. But that phone has a lower-resolution 90Hz screen. The Motorola Moto G82 5G is more likely to leave you with a solid but not mind-blowing 20-30% charge by the end of the day. However, there are a few techniques to tweak its longevity without switching on Battery Saver, which alters how the phone behaves. Motorola doesn't have to make the nicest feeling smartphone ever, just something better than everything else this price-point can offer. Within that framing, the Moto G62 is a more-than-modest success story. Held in your hands, the device feels solid and tangible. It doesn't feel cheap, and it doesn't feel flimsy. It's a little on the heavy side, but that's a small price to pay for the tangible benefits that a larger screen and a 5000mAh battery earn you.

B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B7, B8, B12, B13, B17, B18, B19, B20, B26, B28, B32, B38, B39, B40, B41, B42, B43The Moto G62’s ultra-wide camera uses another Samsung sensor, the ISOCELL 4H7. It suffers from the same issues as secondary cameras in other entry-level phones, like poor sharpness at the sides of the frame and lower dynamic range — which leads to blown highlights in some pics. PC Mark 3.0 battery test is one of the more accurate tests for heavy use, but it simply would not run. Water-repellent design creates a barrier to help protect against moderate exposure to water such as accidental spills, splashes, or light rain.” The upgrade proves effective here, delivering multi-core scores that pull 5.6% ahead of the Moto G50 and outstripping the Nokia G50 by more than 10%. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11’s Snapdragon 680 processor is the closest challenger, coming in just 1% slower than the Moto G62 5G.

The 6.5in display has a 90Hz refresh rate and HD+ resolution, with the rear camera array consisting of a 50MP main lens, 5MP ultrawide and 2MP macro, while the battery is 5,000mAh. Here we see the first big advantage the G23 has over the G53 5G, with the fast charging bumped up to 30W. You also get an official IP52 rating here, as opposed to the vague “water-repellent design” of the above models. The soundstage is limited to the phone width, which, as is usual for earpiece/speaker, has a definite bottom bias. Bear in mind, though, that Fortnite is one of the most challenging mobile games to run, and the majority of casual titles will run perfectly well. There’s a lot of room for them too. The phone has 128GB storage, where some Samsungs that retail near the price only have 64GB to work with.It is a dual hybrid SIM with one fitting a SIM or MicroSD (the Telco version is a single SIM). Only one can be active at a time, and if you have a 5G plan, it must be in SIM 1. It has two ringtones that are excellent for home and business users. A high refresh rate like 120Hz makes scrolling through menus look much smoother. The Moto G62 isn’t the best showcase for the tech, as micro-stutters spoil the effect a bit. These tend to occur when you move from one part of the interface to another and are not a surprise or, in our opinion, a huge issue in a budget phone. You can switch the Moto G82’s color from “Saturated” to “Normal” in the Settings menu, and a temperature slider allows for a warmer or cooler appearance. All told, the under-the-hood hardware here proved to be a natural complement to Motorola's long-standing and very hands-off approach to Android itself. There's little in the way of bloatware, with the final experience of using the Moto G62 soars to a level of responsiveness that's rare among devices of this price point. While the processor here can't compete with the snappiness of a flagship one, a 120Hz refresh rate makes the difference between the two feel surprisingly fungible.

It ships with Android 12 and Motorola’s overlay My UX. You can reasonably expect Android 13 soon and two years of updates. We also found the color temperature a little cool at the default setting. This is common, since a cooler tone can make a screen seem brighter and punchier. However, the Moto G82 looks better once it’s been tweaked slightly. The Motorola Moto G82 5G has a 5,000mAh battery, the same capacity seen in a large and ever-increasing number of Moto-series phones. However, it’s good to see this capacity retained when this is a slightly slimmer handset than plenty of others in the Moto G family. Night photos aren’t even close to those from the Google Pixel 6a, for example – or, closer in price, the OnePlus Nord 2T. Even when you use the Night Vision mode, made for low light, truly dark pictures remain pretty dark, detail is limited, and what detail is present tends to look fuzzy and vague. Any more coverage than the above and we end up over-analysing what is a fairly unadventurous but pleasant enough phone. Yes, another well-made glass slab. The rear is a fingerprint/greasy finger magnet, but you will use the bumper case anyway. The fingerprint sensor is on the power button, and the three-sensor camera is on the rear. All the buttons are on the right side at the ideal height for one-handed use.
