About this deal

The Quasar 200 has a large covered porch with a detachable groundsheet that’s lightweight and perfect for extra storage. On the more expensive side of two person tents is the Robens Goshawk 2. With a 5000mm hydrostatic head, taped seams, and plenty of covered porch space, this tent fairs well in poor weather. The Scorpion 2 tent from Snugpak is a sturdy 2-man tent that has been constructed to withstand harsh 4 season weather conditions. The inner tent also has three Polyester mesh vents to allow for ventilation without allowing bugs to get in. Features

You need a quality four-season tent if you are preparing a BOB. You never know when disaster is going to strike, and if you’re banking on it hitting during the warmer months, you’re really throwing the dice. In many places, warm weather only comes four months a year. Those aren’t odds that are in your favor. I recommend your BOB including shelter that is substantial regardless of what season it is.In terms of structure, this tent has aluminium poles, an internal layer that clips on easily and then the option of adding a flysheet on top for protection from the elements. The Scorpion 2™ IX is a true tried and tested favourite of mountaineers, climbers, campers & military personnel that protects you all year round from severe weather conditions. One question we do have is whether the top of the tent would deal well with snow. It’s fairly flat and due to the ridges caused by the poles snow would build up rather than be displaced to the ground. We couldn’t test this fully, but similar tent designs have been known to have problems with snow. It’s for this reason we classify the Scorpion 2 as a 3 – 4 season tent rather than a full 4 season tent. With over 40 years of experience, UK outdoor experts Snugpak offer a high-quality range of tried and tested tents for use in the most challenging of conditions.

It’s frustrating to wake up and find that the inside walls of your tent are covered in water. You only find this out after you’ve accidentally bumped the wall and it all comes falling down on your face. Having cold water spit all over your face is an unpleasant way to wake up in the morning. The Scorpion 2™ IX will shelter you from the worst four-season weather, it has a 5000mm hydrostatic head (HH) polyurethane (PU) coated flysheet, with taped seams. The Scorpion 2™ IX has an impressive sleeping space, measuring 205cm/81" long and 110cm/43" wide, creating ample room for two people in a top-toe sleeping arrangement with an additional spacious front porch for extra storage. In an emergency, there is enough space to accommodate up to six people sitting down. The Snugpak Scorpion 2 Tent is the two person little brother of a tent, to the three person Scorpion 3 and features the same sleek and stylish design. The Scorpion 2 is can be pitched either fly first or as an all in tent. When you have overcome any pitching teething problems It’s pretty easy to set up, thanks to its colour coded poles (2 green and 1 grey) and robust hard wearing pole sleeves. However we found the Scorpion 2’s instructions to be quite unhelpful when it came to erecting the tent. The poles, as stated, are colour coded at one end only, but the 2 green poles which create the dome both have a slight bend at one end and it was not clear which way round they went as both ways seem to work. It was only after close examination of a photograph that we saw that the coloured end of the pole went towards the front of the tent. This was a little confusing we thought, hopefully you will now not have the same confusion! Let’s say you see the group a mile off into the distance. The average walking pace for most people for a mile is somewhere around 15 minutes. With a Scorpion 2, that would give you a ten-minute head start. Inside Space Having two doors on a tent is a useful feature when space is tight. On the Trespass Battuta, you’ve not only got a door on either end but also a vestibule on each too. With easy access from either side and plenty of space to store boots out of the rain, this two man tent is a great option for those wanting a little extra room. Snugpak is a brand is synonymous with supplying the military, therefore you would expect quality and that is what you get! Like it’s big brother, the Scorpion 3, the Snugpak Scorpion 2 is well built using solid materials. Strong fibreglass poles make this a hardy and reliable tent that should see you through many enjoyable camping trips.

Every tent that I’ve ever either bought or used has advertised itself to be a “two-man” or “four-man”, or what-have-you tent. They’re all liars. I suppose within the tent industry the engineers are all roughly four feet tall. Space – How much room do you need inside your tent? If you’re camping alone, a two man tent is more than enough room. If you’re camping with a buddy, you’ll have to take into consideration whether you’ll need the extra room or if a two man tent is spacious enough. Overall the Snugpak Scorpion 2 tent is a really nice tent. It’s easy enough to pitch in a few minutes and is quite a versatile. The Scorpion 2 is not a tent for people over 6ft! If your under 6ft then you will find that there is quite a nice amount of room for 2 people, at it’s longest length it is just over 2m and its just under 2m at it’s widest. It’s not a square and it does taper though, as the footprint diagram shows.A spacious two-person tent, the Scorpion 2 will shelter you from the worst four-season weather, with an impressive 5000mm Hydrostatic Head PU Coated Fly sheet, with taped seams and a No-See-Um Mesh Mosquito Net, to keep out the bugs in summer months and warmer climates. For expeditions and base camping, the Scorpion design is the perfect green, allowing you to fly-pitch your tent with minimal environmental impact to the surrounding areas, using an opposing pole system to form a spacious base- tent that keeps condensation build up to a minimum with multiple ventilation channels. Using its sleek design and its 5000-mm polyurethane fly, the Scorpion 2 is able to deflect fierce winds and heavy rainfall, making this tent suitable for the harshest weather. Either side open with the other side and central door closed – great for cooking when the rain is coming down.

The tent is lightweight at 2.65kg all-in and the design conveniently allows the parts to be split up and carried by different people. Performance Putting up the Scorpion 2 was a fairly simple affair with colour-coordinated poles to help you get it right first time. I found the poles to be slightly fiddly to get through the sleeves – they got caught a few times – but this isn’t enough to put me off the tent. Once the free-standing outer is up, the inner is joined on by a large number of attachment points. While it got a bit tedious hooking them all in, they do a great job of keeping the inner taut and away from the outer.

You can have the central door open (either strapped at the top or held with poles to create a porch) – the normal configuration.
