To get your model prepared, you will usually want to place the model at an angle. Placing models at an angle makes it easier to remove them from the build platform without damaging them in the process. It also gives more surface area for supports to hold on so the model is less likely to fall during printing. For the Mars 3 Pro, I knew I would need to scale the model down somewhat and I wanted to get the largest size that would print comfortably, so I ended printing this at a 30 degree angle scaled to 80%. The Mars 3 Pro also includes an improved light source, or more precisely, a new light disperser. Similar to the Mars 3, the Pro version has a light-producing COB lens with 36 embedded LED lights. The Fresnel lens that is situated directly below the LCD screen, however, is something new. Elegoo advertises the Mars 3 Pro as using a “PFA Release Film”, which has been designed to reduce the amount of adhesion between the part during printing and the film. Interestingly enough, I noticed that the Mars 3 Pro produced much less noise during lift moves than the original Mars 3, possibly due to this reduced adhesion. It has almost become a tradition for Elegoo to launch a Pro version sometime after the base version of a new 3D printer is released. But each release has features that can speak for itself.
I decided to dial in using the awesome Cones of Calibration found at TableFlip Foundry. These are designed for dialling-in resin printers for miniatures and I find them much easier to use than other testers (and they are much cooler looking). If you can get over the DnD theme, which I personally love, these are the best I have found. Elegoo made a big hullabaloo about the active carbon filter of the Mars 2 Pro. Sadly, it was all hype. The active carbon filter was inside the machine, but that carbon needs to be changed out after a few months. There was no way of doing that without seriously opening the machine up. The Mars 3 is equipped with the entry-level ChiTuBox Slicer; however, it can also be operated with ChiTuBox Pro or the well-known third-party slicer Lychee. The Fresnel lens collimator enables a light angle of up to 5°, ensuring uniformity of more than 92%. Printed models are thus given extremely sharp and clear edges and corners. Having a stable resin 3D printer is insanely important. When printing at 0.05mm layer height and below, any wobble or drifting will cause a ton of issues. What you think is caused by the resin, the exposure or whatever might just be your printer wobbling when it prints. When your 3D printer moves to the top of the rail, wobbling can especially be a problem.The same thing cannot be said for the pro version of the Mars 3. You will have to decide if the small set of extra features warrants the price jump for you. One thing I have to say is that the manual is, like earlier versions, quite poor. Elegoo is not really helping you that much to get started. Large Build Volume】With a large build volume of 143.43×89.6×175mm (5.647×3.52×6.8 inches), you can print one large model or undergo batch printing in a single job, which saves your time and greatly improves your productivity. So yeah, if you own a printer (with a mono screen) that you are happy with, I think upgrading to get more detail is unlikely to be worth it. Caution: The .LCD file will be automatically updated after restarting the machine in the shutdown state. Please do not update repeatedly to avoid being prompted "Same Firmware already exists!" Phrozen Onyx pro 410 resin is awesome It will be a few years before this totally gets outclassed. I think the Mars 4 will be a slight upgrade, but not the big jump in quality we have seen from the Mars 2 to the Mars 3. Overall, I think the market is settling on 4k being entry-level and 8k being premium for these smaller-class printers.
