About this deal

PtM: I would, but unfortunately I've never had the pleasure of owning one. But I think one of the new Smash versions should do - they have pretty long cords. Only one GamePad can be synced to and used on a Wii U console at a time, so if two or more players wishing to use the GamePad were to play a match, only one would be able to use it.

Not using the NES controllers defeats one of the objects of this console for me, that it's meant to feel like a real NES. I'm waiting for the extension cables to be readily available in the U.K. I'm getting along ok for the moment, though it is somewhat inconvenient. Well that NES Controller is basically just a Classic Controller with less buttons. You can see why they made the Reset Button functional for people who use the NES Controllers. Within tournaments for Brawl, Project M, Smash Wii U, and Ultimate, the GameCube controller is by far the most popular option, due to the still-strong tournament scene of Melee and most players having the opinion of the GameCube controller being the best controller for Smash. Additionally, GameCube controllers do not have battery issues and they are considerably easier to connect to a Wii, as they do not require devoted processes for syncing them to different consoles. The Wavebird, however, is generally banned at large events; the controller allows for only sixteen potential channels between it and its dongle, and a large number of such controllers being used at once can potentially lead to interference issues between different players at different setups. In addition, players could set their controller to the same channel as another player on purpose to interfere with other players.Darren is Nintendo Life’s Batman: fearless in the face of danger, he loves gadgets and talking in a really, really deep voice. As Operations Director he stays mostly behind the scenes in a room he insists on calling “The Batcave”. Finally, they can be used with both Joy-Cons attached to the console in portable mode, which offers a very similar play style to playing vertically. napabar Not really, the gamecube controller is only good for smash and gamecube games while the pro controller can play smash just as well along with a bunch of other games that the gamecube can't with it's gyro, and additional buttons. Ultimate fans would only consider playing the game with a GameCube controller of course!" And yet the official one isn't on there. Which is the one everyone uses.

In tournaments, especially large ones, the wireless nature of the Pro Controller can be problematic, both for the users and the people around them. Tournaments typically have large amounts of wireless interference, which makes using the Pro Controller wirelessly potentially unreliable. In addition, wireless Pro Controllers can still send inputs to the console they are synced with even when the controller is far away if not manually disconnected, which often results in unwanted inputs being sent to consoles by accident. This has become less of an issue over time, as the Switch operating system has added the ability to disconnect all wireless controllers from the console in the system settings and because Smash Ultimate was patched to let any player disconnect a controller, even other people's controllers. Tharsman You are completely correct. That's my mistake, then. Yes, I was talking about the PowerA Gamecube controller as well. It's fantastic. It should be on this list. (And the list should be ranked.) jly1987 It’s cheap, widely available, works on the last four Smash games (five if you count the Wii Virtual Console version of Smash 64), and handles very well thus making it the best Smash controller overall (especially for multiplayer, which demands a lot of controllers). In July 2017, a committee of five prominent Melee tournament organizers, including Zalewski, released a recommended ruleset for professional Melee competitions. This document includes a lengthy section imposing a "tentative ban" on the use of non-GameCube controllers such as the Smash Box controller, stating that the classic controller is "somewhat intrinsic to what we consider 'playing Melee' and the skills involved in doing so." Alex Jebailey tweeted his support for this decision and stated in an interview that alternative controllers "should rightfully be scrutinized and tested at a local level before being allowed to used in a major scale event." [6] Skegg I can't remember a single game that actually even uses the D pad for anything more than additional buttons on the GC.

When it comes to third-party controller companies, Hori is right up there with the best. The accessory maker has released a number of designs that work with Switch, although the two listed below are fast becoming essential parts of many a Switch owner's arsenal. Hori D-Pad Joy-Con The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller features similar layout of the Joy-Con Controllers when used in the vertical configuration, but in a similar form factor as the Wii U Pro Controller. That's the way to go isn't? It's made for cleaning sensitive electronics without disassembling them Think Super Smash Bros. Ultimate shouldn't be played with anything other than a GameCube controller? Well, it turns out that Nintendo understands your feelings exactly.
