One question, when you make one of the wreaths, do you then transfer the designs onto a Styrofoam wreath that you have covered or are these meant to be put in a picture frame. Ooh this book looks amazing! Good thing there's so many components because I have a*lot* of favorite flowers! You can have fun recreating the collages that Chris has designed or you can mix and match the motifs of your favourite plants and flowers to make your own creations. There are instructions for which yarn to use to create the motifs but you can experiment with different types of yarn to create your own versions. Alongside the more usual front-on view of flowers in full bloom, the author has included some patterns for flowers viewed from the side, half-opened flowers, buds, seedheads, berries and fungi. There is also a large variety of foliage types from individual leaves to leafy stems, ferns and grasses. Each of the collages has a different, sometimes seasonal, theme and all the compositions are different – there are wreaths and bouquets, some are arranged in a jug or a vase while others grow straight from the ground. My favorite collages of the book would be the Flower Meadow, Cottage Garden, Spring Awakening and Terracotta Pot. Each collage is a beautiful work of art with its variety of flower colors, petal designs, leaf shapes and balanced compositions. You can mix and match motifs from the collections to make special displays and artwork, or use the patterns to make decorative items like bookmarks, keychains, and embellishments. The designs include a wide range of different flowers and plants. While some patterns depict plants viewed straight-on and in full-bloom, others show plants viewed from a side viewpoint and only partially open. Buds, seedheads, berries, and mushrooms are also featured, as well as individual leaves, stems with leaves, ferns, and grasses. This is another book to put on my wish list. As someone else said, it is an art book but, also inspirational in the varied ways the patterns can be used. Big plus the crochet thread is inexpensive compared to most yarns and not nearly as expensive.
