About this deal

Only one song doesn't quite fall in either of the aforementioned categories: We Used To Know, the album’s most melodic and mournful tune. Wistful and nostalgic, it is one of Anderson’s finest folk songs, and features the singer’s best performance thus far, along with two majestic, electrifying guitar solos courtesy of “Le Barre”. On a historical note, The Eagles liked this song so much that they would record a (largely inferior) cover of it, changing the title to Hotel California. The band then embarked on a short Swedish tour to support Jimi Hendrix in January 1969 before embarking on a three-month U.S. tour (the band's first) during which the band recorded the non-album single " Living in the Past" and B-side "Driving Song" at the behest of manager Terry Ellis to "keep the pot boiling" in the UK. [4] Following the end of the tour in April, the band returned to the UK to begin recording sessions for the new album. AP couldn’t get permission to use the pink label so it uses the green Chrysalis one. … if the goal was to duplicate the original pink label Island sound, this reissue misses that, which is good because this new double 45 reissue is far superior to the original in every possible way. Another difference between this and the other orange bullseye pink label pressing Jethro Tull - Stand Up is that the whole type set on Side One is printed slightly higher on the label; this is particularly noticeable when you look at the word STEREO, but in fact all of the type set is higher than that seen in Jethro Tull - Stand Up. On Side Two, the only obvious difference between the 2 orange bullseye pink label pressings is that the word "Produced" is slightly further away from the spindle hole on this pressing than on Jethro Tull - Stand Up.This Tull recording has been one of my all time fav's since I was a teen some 45 years ago. I have a Pink Island UK label pressing that has beaten all the others... until now. I just finished a brief shootout between this new 45 rpm pressing and my original UK first edition Island, and the new one I feel has a better overall frequency balance top to bottom and even perhaps too much on the bottom, but that is welcome on some cuts. The Pink Island has a snappy presence and midrange zippyness this does not have but I think this one is more accurate. It has all the detail, space, echo, imaging of the original AND A BIT MORE. This new pressing beats all others. (Using latest Rega P-10, Rega top MC into Accuphase phono into top First Sound Passive, hot rodded Eagle 4 amp, Joseph Audio Perspectives.. Cardas Clear Beyond and Stage III cables. And yet, Stand Up’s most interesting portions are those in which the band toys with various styles and tries to inject the tired and true blues formula with some vitality and originality. Innovative songs such as Fat Man, which sees the band flirting with lively sitars and Indian motifs, and Sweet Dream, with its tempo changes and breathtaking orchestral arrangements, see the band pushing their compositional and musical abilities to the very limits. Also worth noting is Bouree, a jazzy, wild reinterpretation of a piece by J.S. Bach that soon became a staple of the band’s live show and is still constantly performed to this day. The first disc features Steven Wilson’s stereo mixes of the original album, four songs recorded at the BBC, single mixes for Living In The Past and Driving Song and more. inch Vinyl Record 140 / 150 Gram Vinyl Record 180 Gram Vinyl Record 200 Gram Vinyl Record 45 RPM Vinyl Record 7 inch Vinyl D2D Vinyl Record Low Serial Numbered Vinyl Record Multi-Format Box Sets Preowned Vinyl Record Sealed Out-of-Print Vinyl Record System Set Up Record UHQR Vinyl Record Vinyl LP Box Sets - New & Preowned Preowned Vinyl Box Sets Vinyl Box Sets Vinyl LP with Damaged Cover Vinyl Record Vinyl Record & CD Vinyl Record & DVD Vinyl Record, DVD & CD Vinyl Test Pressing Clean, balanced, richly detailed. a b c d e f g h i j Webb, Martin (2016). "Will the Real Jethro Tull Please Stand Up?". Stand up: The Elevated Edition. Chrysalis Records. This pressing plays and sounds fantastic. It is clear, vibrant, quiet and spacious. Get it while you can! But especially great is the transient clarity on top and bottom. … Best of all, as the title suggests this album “stands up” to time. It hasn’t lost a thing musically, lyrically or sonically. Highly recommended!” — Music = 9/11; Sound = 9/11 — Michael Fremer. In 1989 a MFSL remaster was released, with catalogue number UDCD 524. The booklet featured the pop-up woodcut band.

Original cover has E.J Day printer credits inside gatefold (written in white colour near the feet on the right of the band members, on the "pop up"). One month later, the band scored their first U.K. hit with “Living In The Past,” which charted at #3 (included in the remastered release).. Starting with “Stand Up,” the band’s use of dynamics, Celtic Folk, and classically-oriented tonal structures, along with Ian Anderson’s flute playing and songwriting, became Jethro Tull’s signature. Simply put, “Stand Up” was the genesis of Tull’s sound and, not surprisingly, is one of Anderson’s favorite Tull records.

Instrumentální skladba „Bourée“ je jedna z nejznámějších, které skupina Jethro Tull hraje a je předělávkou Bourée e-moll ( BWV 996) od J.S.Bacha. It was in 1992 that Acoustic Sounds owner Chad Kassem reissued his first Analogue Productions title, Virgil Thompson's The Plow That Broke The Plains, originally on Vanguard. The second disc captures Jethro Tull performing live in Sweden, where the band opened for Jimi Hendrix in January 1969. Recorded only a few weeks after Martin Barre joined the band, the concert includes songs from the band’s debut in addition to two songs destined for Stand Up. Rounding out the disc are mono single mixes of Living In The Past and Driving Song, plus two radio spots promoting the album. The Stand Up Elevated Edition is a great sounding box set that features what some, including myself, feel is Tull's best album. Having listened to some of the other Tull “book” editions, I feel that Stand Up is better than anything else they ever released, including Aqualung. It’s a shame they could never match the quality of Stand Up.
