About this deal

After a few rides, both on road and off, I was seriously pleased at just how quiet the Enve post was. So to better try and evaluate the performance of the Enve seatpost, I swapped in another expensive carbon seatpost by way of comparison. We are constantly at the forefront of developing and manufacturing materials that will with stand hard and furious riding and our designs are made to combat common breaks and bends. But, a narrower pipe could probably be sourced, or even a steel rod – then it’s up to finding a turner to process it into the appropriate diameter size. The post is fully serviceable, adjustable for rider weight, and comes in three different spring options: soft, medium, or hard.

While most seatposts are made from aluminium, carbon fibre seatposts are usually lighter and can absorb some road / trail vibrations. Similar in design to the Rockshox AXS dropper post I reviewed a while back, it makes it super easy to swap saddles and adjust the angle. Also, at several parts you refer to Vernier calipers, but none of your images have Vernier calipers. It’s relatively firm (depending on how you tune it) and the real benefit comes in to play with larger bumps. This might be desired by some riders, but for me it was a little too much and it affected pedaling efficiency quite a bit on that first ride. There is also a preload adjustment screw at the bottom of the post allowing you to fine tune the suspension. One downside when compared to elastomer seatposts is softer coils can rob some of the power from the pedal downstroke, particularly when climbing.

The safest way to determine this is to measure (I like to say that one good measurement is better than a thousand expert opinions 🙂 ). These are rods with an increasing diameter from one end to the other, with a scale noting the diameter in standard sizes. To help reduce or stop this, on longer flatter rides, try getting out of the saddle for a time to relieve the pressure on your delicate area. That did give a snug fit, but I also note your measurements show seat post stated diameters are not exact.

I got the Medium Kinekt, which comes with the Charcoal/Black stripe springs set for riders weighing from 150-200 pounds. Dropper seatposts allow mountain bike riders to quickly change saddle height without stopping and adjusting saddle height. Fortunately, the post came with two other springs, one Charcoal/Purple (SM 100-150 pounds) and one Charcaol/Orange (LG 200-240 pounds). The photo sequence above shows me sitting on it set up out of the box—main spring only, with preload somewhere in the middle—with its sag affected by only my weight (about 175lbs).

Virginia put close to 1,000 miles on the previous short travel version in Armenia, the Republic of Georgia, and elsewhere without issues. Enve makes lovely looking parts, including this seatpost, that no doubt provide joy to those who shell out their hard-earned cash for them. Generally speaking, unlike shocks and linkages, suspension seatposts are relatively easy to install and maintain, and can be used with pretty much all types of bikes, from hardtails to gravel tourers.
