Gradual removal of lesions may be achieved by oral therapy. This technique is often desirable for pediatric patients because it is generally less painful and may be performed by parents at home in a less threatening environment. Oral cimetidine has been used as an alternative treatment for small children who are either afraid of the pain associated with cryotherapy, curettage, and laser therapy or because the possibility of scarring is to be avoided. While cimetidine is safe, painless, and well tolerated, facial mollusca do not respond as well as lesions elsewhere on the body. Topical therapy Dab all molluscum bumps with the flatside of the spatula and allow the solutionto dry. After 3-5 bumps, you should wetthe spatula with MolluDab again. MolluDab ® is ideal for home treatment and is relatively painless than some more aggressive treatments 3. Twice daily, use the spatula to apply a small quantity of MolluDabprecisely onto the molluscum bumps, and allow the solution to dry.

The vascular patterns found in 188 lesions confirmed histologically were crown (72.34%), radial (54.25%) and punctiform patterns (20.21%). Half of the 188 lesions had a combination of vascular patterns Creams and lotions may be used. Currently, we don't know which is the best one, or even if some of them have any effect at all. Options used include: Molluscum contagiosum is infectious while active. However, affected children and adults should continue to attend daycare, school, and work. The inflammation indicates that your body is fighting the molluscum bumps. Now it is time to be patient and wait forthe bumps to heal. MolluDab mustnot be used on inflamed bumps.

People often think they’ve got genital warts when they see the firm, dome-shaped raised spots, which may be dimpled and can be as small as 1 millimetre or as large as half a centimetre, that are typical of MC. It’s an easy mistake to make and the reason why getting a correct diagnosis is important. The GP can do this, but many people still feel embarrassed about ‘problems down below’ so when this is the case visiting the local sexual health clinic, also known as the genito-urinary medicine (GUM) clinic, is another good option. Moderate-large sized lesions often have central white-yellow globules/clods (looking like grapefruit segments)

Most papules are 2-5 mm in size. Occasionally lesions can reach 1 cm or greater in diameter, this is particularly so with solitary lesionsMost cases areself-limitingwith resolution of lesions occurring over 6-9 months, although some cases may last for up to four years. Where possible the parents of such children should be encouraged to let the condition run its natural course Those affected should be dissuaded from scratching the bumps and certainly from squeezing them as this can promote spread to other areas of skin not yet affected. In children with the condition, thorough hand washing should be encouraged to remove the virus from the hands. Affected children do not need to stay away from school (or equally, adults, from work). For children, people with a weakened immune system or people who have symptoms that cause pain and discomfort, treatment could include:

Sometimes treatment is wanted, if the lesions are particularly unsightly or troublesome, or if they are spreading very widely. You should discuss this with your GP. Molluscum contagiosum thrives under warm and damp conditions, so keep the skin clean and dry. Try and avoid sharing the affected person's towels, clothing, facecloths, bed linen and toys to avoid spreading the condition.Molluscum contagiosum is caused by a poxvirus, the molluscum contagiosum virus. There are at least 4 viral subtypes.
