For this Heavy edition, the juniper has been roasted, extracting more flavour to create a more robust style. This same mind set has been applied to Height of Arrows, a gin that showcases juniper as its singular botanical, enhanced with two modifiers, salt and beeswax.

Finish - Initially oily and mouth coating with juicy and rich orange zest and lemon pith then a bold emergence of black pepper and cardamom, tempered with tapered herbaceous smoothness. It was fascinating to taste blind, knowing that the botanical lineup in each of the gins was the same, but experiencing how different the three gins could be. Nose: Heavy has a warmer feel to it, with more spice notes and subtle florals, supporting the juniper. I’ve judged at international spirits competitions and I can truthfully say this is by far and away one of the BEST gins I’ve ever tasted.

Mirroring this approach, the aim was to create a gin with a complex array of flavours by utlising a minimal number of ingredients. The ancient volcano provides breathtaking views of Edinburgh and it’s from here that Height of Arrows takes its name. The resulting juniper forward gin is incredibly complex while remaining beautifully smooth to drink.
