About this deal

The included lights offer surprisingly powerful and color-accurate illumination that spreads evenly across the subject. It’s technically portable because all of the gear fits into a single long carrying case. But, it weighs more than 16 pounds, so it’s not the easiest thing to lug around. We've listed the best LED light panels for any size or budget, for smartphones, hotshoe mounting and studio photography

NEEWER Dimmable 5600K USB LED Video Light 2-Pack with

The Rotolight NEO 2 is rated for a whopping 2,000 lux maximum brightness at three feet (91.5cm). We couldn’t quite match this in our testing, measuring a peak 1,840 lux at 4,000K, but that’s still noticeably brighter than most competitors. Brightness does drop to around 1,100 lumens at each end of the 3,150-6,300K temperature range, but this is the only issue we found. The Neewer 5600K is a great lighting option. While the set-up does not come with a carrying case or a USB power supply, we had an overall excellent experience with these lights. They are agile, inexpensive, and neatly bonded. Save the power source, the lights are entirely self-contained. Although the delicate makeup of the synthetic materials used in the production of these lights may be a negative feature for some, we can attest to the durability of the product from our first-hand experience. The Rotolight NEO 3 builds on the success of the preceding NEO 2 (below), adding a raft of impressive new features. Both models deliver flash output as well as constant lighting, but the NEO 3 delivers a full range of color in both modes, with full RGBWW options. It comes in various configurations and kits and accessories will vary according to which you choose. With a redesigned LED chip, the Aputure LS 300X puts an emphasis on versatility, making it a fantastic tool for photographers and videographers in the studio. And yes we do mean videographers – its quiet fans mean it won't overwhelm the sound of a video. In addition to the lightweight and compact nature of the lighting suite, which makes it a top candidate for on-the-go lighting, the product is also powered by a USB cord. Max power output is a literally eye-watering 5750 lux at 3ft, and the LED colour temperature is steplessly adjustable from a warm 3150K through to a daylight-balanced 6300K. Rotolight’s emphasis on quality continues with a high colour rendering index of over 96. An easy to read rear display shows the current light intensity and temperature, both adjustable by dedicated control dials. The bi-color 2700-6500 K LED light comes with adjustable focusing, which means you can internally adjust the spot or beam angle between 15 and 45 degrees.

The Lume Cube Panel doesn't reinvent anything about LED lighting, but it's a useful unit to have in a pinch and makes for a great shooting companion out on location. For a start, it's not just an LED panel, but also a power bank; when we tested it out, we were lighting our shots while also charging a smartphone, which is pretty handy. At 5600K, these lights produce ‘cool’ lighting as opposed to ‘warm,’ incandescent grades of brightness. The results I achieved using these lights in a studio setting to obtain product photos were terrific. The kit comes with an eight-leaf barn-door modifier, but it also includes a custom Bowens-mount adapter that attaches to the accessory mount. This makes it a good choice for photographers who already have Bowens or Godox modifiers. This affordable box comes with three LED strips that throw a blanket of even illumination over just about any subject that fits inside. The box itself only measures 16 cubic inches, so it’s not huge. That’s plenty of room for small objects like jewelry, video games, or even cameras. The set-up comes complete with 4 color filters (2 red, 2 blue, 2 yellow, and 2 white), each offering up a unique effect. The filters are slotted into the light shell, they do not have to be screwed in which allows for an easy transition between colors. It is important to note that the color filters must be used in tandem with the white diffuser to offer the best lighting.Litepanels has a reputation for producing quality kit aimed at semi-pro videographers, and the Astra 6X panel certainly feels like a quality product. At 3.2kg it’s designed solely for stationary light stand mounting, but the aluminum yoke cradle is very tough, as is the XLR power input connection, plus there’s a quiet cooling fan to ensure the longevity of the electronics and 256 individual LEDs.

Portable Lighting Kit for Photography (8 Picks in 2023) The Best Portable Lighting Kit for Photography (8 Picks in 2023)

Neewer has a reputation for making surprisingly capable photo accessories for almost ridiculously low prices. This light box comes with everything required to start shooting still life and product photos. The 16-inch box isn’t huge, but you can step up to a 24-inch model if you need more room. The Explorer Kit adds a battery and charger, plus a padded soft case. Next up the price ladder, the Masters Kit doubles up on lamps and diffusion domes while also adding light stands and a padded soft case, but this time batteries aren’t included. Top of the range is the Ultimate Kit, which is essentially the same as the Masters Kit with the addition of two batteries and chargers. You don’t always need fancy light arrays to provide your illumination. This translucent box surrounds a subject with diffusion material. Then, photographers can add their own light, whether it’s natural from the outdoors or artificial from hot lights and flashes. The Sidus Link mobile app gives you another method of controlling the light, and the 60X features a range of special effects, including Paparazzi, Fireworks, Lightning, Faulty Bulb, TV, Pulsing, Strobe, Explosion, and Fire (all with adjustable color temperature control). The TTL function is great for shooting in changing lighting conditions. In TTL mode, when you change your camera settings, the light power settings change to give you a proper exposure. This is also a feature many beginners appreciate. If you require a constant photography or video light, combining the smallest possible footprint but the most lighting power, then the Zhiyun Fiveray M40 should be a serious contender for your gear bag.

Neewer 176 LED 5600K Ultra Bright Dimmable on Camera Video

For those looking for the best portable lighting kit on a budget, the Neewer Vision 4Strobe kit may be just what you want. It comes with high-speed sync capabilities so you can freeze movement and shoot in bright sunlight without having to use a narrow aperture (as you would with traditional flash sync speeds). The Godox wireless trigger is easy to use and reliable, while the battery will provide over 500 full-power flashes between charges. The i4T EX 400W is powerful enough for both indoor and outdoor scenarios, making it a great all-purpose option. It comes with high-speed sync to make shooting in bright sunlight much easier, and the TTL mode is reliable and accurate.Small but powerful and extremely versatile as a constant LED light, the NEO 3 is a quantum leap forward from the NEO 2. It delivers a full color range in both constant and flash modes, with a huge range of electronic color filters and special effects, all available via a simple and intuitive color touchscreen menu. I very much appreciated the color filters that are included with the Neewer 5600K bundle and liked working with them in this context to create interesting perspectives by manipulating the lighting hues. Color Filters At a price like this, you aren't going to get professional studio quality. That's a given. So let's talk about what the Neewer 176 LED Panel does give you, which is, as it turns out, rather a lot for the money.
